Fundamentals
of Off-Loom Weaving
Class # JDC001
No Experience Required
Class Length: 2 hours
Instructor
Fee: $30 Private, $25 per person Groups of 2-6 people
This
class provides the fundamentals needed to start and finish many off-loom weaving stitches. There is no loom used in
off-loom weaving. Learning these techniques will allow a student to follow many other written off-loom weaving tutorials.
Class Concepts:
Peyote Stitch: basic instruction for this widely used stitch. (Other stitch can be substituted
upon request.)
Knotting: How to Start, Finish, and add-on thread during a project. Threads,
Glue, and Needles: Which do I use, when, how, and why or why not? Clasps and Findings: How and when to add your clasps
and findings that are
secure,
neat, and professional looking, including techniques using French wire and different findings. All students will finish the class with
written instructions and definitions for class subjects and one Peyote Stitch band ready for embellishment or wear.

The spiral is a very flexible and varied stitch. This class teaches the basic spiral making following more advanced
spiral patterns possible. Alternating different beads creates a graceful spiralling bracelet.

This class has two options. For students with the experience to make a single drop peyote band, Class A allows the
student to bring a finished, plain peyote band ready to be embellished. Class B teaches a student with no experience
to make a peyote band and embellish.

This class teaches a basic wire crochet technique used with other techniques to create a choker that
is sure to get lots of "WOW" remarks. With the right clasp it also works well as a bracelet.

wire crochet). Students will make a delicately, intricate necklace using several simple crochet stitches.
