Instructional classes that fulfill requirements for various scout badges.

JUNIOR SCOUTS

Below are the badge points my Jr. workshop can provide. Leaders may select from this list what their girls need to complete their Jeweler Badge. Some things may overlap into other badges as listed at the very bottom. As a business owner, I can also be interviewed for some requirements of other related badges.

Jeweler Badge

1. Jewelry from Everyday Objects: Make Paper Bead

2. Make Macrame Fob

4. Jeweler's Skills Demonstrated: Wire work, Off-loom weaving. Skills Discussion: Lampwork, Soldering, Hammering.

7. Triple Up: Fob made from yarn, paper bead, metal findings, plastic beads.

9. True Gemstones: Gemstones Shown: Quartz, Jade, Turquoise, Diamond, Amazonite, Peral, Mother of Peral, Coral, Peridot, Aquamarine and more. Discussion: Where gemstones are found. What affects the value of a gemstone. How different mineral, temperatures, and light exposures may affect the color of gemstones. Where some gemstones got their names. Chemical make-up of some gemstones.

10. Discussion of symbolism in jewelry. Make a friendship bead with each scout's name on bead. Make Girl Scout friendship ring. Can be exchanged with friend as friendship ring.

Below are the points for this IP that my workshop can provide. Please ask if there are any additional points needed.

-  Provide a demonstration of many of my tools.

-  Provide verbal suggestions for a functional toolbox.

-  Discuss and demonstrate a variety of jewelry findings and their materials.

-  Provide a minimum of 5 different clasps.

-  Provide instruction on finding supplies through the internet and local stores.

-  Demonstrate various hand made findings.

-  Provide materials and instruction to make a "Miss Fanny" charm.  

            Scouts learn to make eye pins, loops, wire wrapping, and a bail out of wire; 

            and they use other findings in this piece.

-  Demonstrate jewelry pieces made out of “easy-to-obtain” items.

-  Provide materials and instruction to make a Bug Eyed Ring
